American Speech Language Hearing Association
Late in 2002, ASHA entered into discussions with SPi Global about their desire to archive and disseminate journal content online using an XML-based content management system. In early 2003, ASHA contracted with SPi Global to develop an XML DTD appropriate for their journals and to convert high-resolution printer PDF files and desktop application files to XML and web-optimized PDF files. Some of the journal articles were captured as full-text XML and others as headers and references only.
Blackwell Publishing
With our relationship dating back to 1990, SPi Global is the largest supplier of publishing services to Blackwell Publishing. When Blackwell wanted to consider an offshore facility for its Editing and Project Management Services, SPi Global was the first company they selected. We currently handle over 30,000 pages of work for Blackwell.
Elsevier
For many years, Elsevier has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with SPi Global. In August 2000, Elsevier awarded SPi Global a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract to build the world's largest online repository of STM journals consisting of 30 to 40 million pages for delivery via Elsevier's online database, Science Direct.
IEEE
The IEEE produces approximately 100,000 finished typeset pages annually, for its own journals, and journals of its member societies. It copyedits and composes these pages using its own internal capabilities. It relies on several vendors, however, to convert author manuscripts in a wide variety of formats, plus a considerable amount of format tagging. SPi Global processes about 100 manuscripts per week for the IEEE, all on a fast-turn basis.
Kluwer Law International
Since 2002, SPi Global has provided XML structuring and page composition services for Kluwer Law International. The partnership revolves around loose-leaf documents concerning constitutions and areas of law in different countries. SPi Global works on two publications, the Netherlands Business Legislation (NBL) and the International Encyclopedia of Laws (IEL series). SPi Global also supported KLI when they decided to use the XSL-FO technology to reduce the cost and turnaround time for producing the typeset pages.
