ePLDT Ventus Receives "Green" Recognition

ePLDT Ventus Fort and ePLDT Ventus Ortigas were recently awarded a plaque of recognition during the Motolite Balik Baterya Program Recognition Night held at the AIM Conference Center in Makati last September 4.

The plaque is given to organizations that have actively supported the Balik Baterya program, which involves the collection of used lead-acid batteries (ULABs) for proper recycling and production of new automotive and industrial batteries. ULABs are toxic and hazardous waste materials, containing lead and sulfuric acid. When disposed of improperly, these two materials can contaminate soil and water and potentially harm the environment in other ways. When ingested or inhaled, these materials can damage nervous systems and cause other serious health problems.
As part of the program, Ventus donates all their used batteries to Motolite for safe disposal or recycling, and the monetary value of these batteries are channeled to support various welfare programs. This year, the funds generated from the program will help improve basic education in the country.

“Fulfilling our responsibility to society is part of Ventus’ culture,” says ePLDT Ventus President Helen Marquez. “We value the safety of our environment and we are currently finding more ways to ‘go green’. Sponsoring SINAG last year was our first step, supporting the Balik Baterya program this year is another.” In 2007, Ventus was one of the major sponsors of SINAG, the first Philippine solar car that successfully finished the 3,000km Panasonic World Solar Challenge in Australia. “We will not solve all environmental problems in a day, but hopefully we can inspire other companies and our own employees to make a difference,” Marquez concludes.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), ePLDT Ventus is a cost-effective option for outsourcing customer service solutions in the Philippines. It offers innovative services, superior customer care and support to guarantee ease of business and give clients peace of mind for their contact center service needs. ePLDT Ventus has over 7,400 employees and multiple contact center locations throughout the Philippines.
