Hanoi, Vietnam, 2 November 2010. Philippine President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III recently paid a visit to SPi Global’s Hanoi facility. The visit coincided with President Aquino’s first state visit to Vietnam.

SPi Global is the largest Filipino-owned Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company with offices and facilities across North America, Europe and Asia. The company has over 14,000 employees delivering a wide range of Knowledge Process, Customer Relationship and Health Information Management outsourcing services.

President Aquino was accompanied by high-ranking Philippine officials - Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo, Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, PMS head Julia Abad, CHED chair Patricia Licuanan, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office Secretary Ramon Carandang and Philippine Ambassador to Hanoi Jerril Santos. Leading SPi executives in welcoming the President and his delegation, Ms. Bales oriented President Aquino on the company's operations and gave a brief tour of the facility. “Our Hanoi operations support our robust Philippine operations. Our experience here in Hanoi has been very positive. We are truly impressed with the discipline, skills set and the high-level of quality work produced by our Hanoi facility,” said Bales. Employees in SPi Global’s Hanoi facility are college graduates with background in the IT industry and majority of them have been with the company for over two years.

SPi’s operations in Hanoi include non-voice BPO operations which include data conversion for publishers and universities in the United States and Europe; and video coding services for a major global postal company. The facility was established in 2002 with an initial number of 50 employees that has to date grown to 500. SPi Global is one of the first BPO companies that established presence in Vietnam.

“We are happy that President Aquino visited us here in Hanoi and proud to show him how we contribute to the growth of a Filipino-owned BPO company. Likewise, we are proud to say that SPi Global is also actively contributing to Vietnam’s economic growth and employment generation. We also hope that the President’ visit further strengthens the ties between our two countries,” said Le Thi Dieu Linh.

From Manila, SPi Global CEO and President Maulik Parekh gave the following statement. “Our presence in Vietnam is strategic in our company’s global footprint. Our success story there is a testament to the country’s readiness to become a bigger BPO player.” “We hope that Vietnam sustains its competitive advantage in non-voice BPO and joins SPi Global in its commitment to excellence in delivering end-to-end outsourcing solutions worldwide,” Parekh continued. “With the combined strength of our Philippines and Vietnam operations, we are pleased to play a part in ASEAN’s economic growth and global competitiveness. And with the synergy that our two countries have shown, we hope that we contributed to meeting the objectives of President Aquino’s trip to Vietnam.” he added.

Asia has become a preferred destination for the global BPO industry due to its process expertise, cost efficiency, and the availability of superior infrastructure and skilled labor force to support large-scale operations. The Philippines is the second leading BPO investment destination in the world and tops the list of BPO investment destinations in Southeast Asia. SPi Global’s growing investment in Vietnam is a testament to its commitment to further strengthen its workforce in Vietnam. The company regularly offers ongoing training in English proficiency, data encoding and software proficiency.

For its corporate social responsibility programs, SPi Global’s Vietnam facility has been very active in donating computers and furniture to the Vietnam Save the Disabled Children Organization.
