May 9, 2012, Manila, Philippines. SPi Global, the largest Filipino-owned BPO company, has won for the second time an award for best BPO service in Vietnam during the 2012 Sao Khue Awards given by the Vietnam Software Association (Vinasa).
Vinasa recognized the Vietnam operations of SPi Global for its “Outstanding BPO Service” involving the company’s “Conversion Solutions” for scanning and digitizing over 30 million pages of scholarly materials in just 18 months.
This project, commissioned by one of the biggest Scientific, Technical, Medical (STM) publishers based in Europe, is one of the most extensive digitization projects in the scientific world. It includes the works of distinguished and illustrious authors such as Albert Einstein, Neils Bohr, Rudolf Diesel, Max Born, and Karl von Frisch.
The project involves dismantling books, scanning, classifying, and converting them into various digital formats to be stored in an online digital library.
“We are proud of this second honor conferred to us again by Vinasa,” said SPi Global President and CEO Maulik Parekh. “The scale and magnitude of this project given the timetable for completion underscores the strength of SPi Global’s operations. Four of our global locations have come and work together (Parañaque, Laguna, Dumaguete and Hanoi) to consistently deliver and exceed client expectations in terms of quality and turnaround time,” Parekh added.
In early 2000, SPi Global undertook a similar project involving 40 million pages and completed it in 5 years’ time, which was already impressive. For this project, we have set a new record of completing 30 million pages in just 18 months.
“This feat reflects the ability of SPi Global to help organizations maximize the value of their content not only be enabling them to deliver these both online and offline using new platforms and new media as well. These are strengths that continue to position us as the world’s leading content solutions provider. Our Vietnam operations is a critical component since the basic processes were done and completed by our Vietnam team,” explained Parekh.
This project will help researchers explore the scientific achievements and ideas of the past. It will also deepen their understanding of concepts and ideas that can lead to further innovation. Librarians will also benefit from the secured electronic access of quality research content, ease of managing digital collections, reduced physical space for books and minimize the need for scanning articles.
The Sao Khue event was well attended. Officers of Vinasa, government officials, and representatives from the software, IT and BPO companies in Vietnam were present to honor the most remarkable software, IT and BPO companies.
“SPi Global is certainly in a place of honor, alongside other outstanding members of Vinasa and best BPO companies in Vietnam for its contribution to the development of the ICT industry in Vietnam in general, and the development of the BPO sector in particular. This award and recognition for our untiring efforts will continue to motivate us toward greater success in the future,” Parekh said.
For several years now, SPi Global has ranked among the top 100 outsourcing service providers in the world, having been in the Global Outsourcing 100 list by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), and in the GS100 list by Global Services Media. SPi Global is the BPO Company of the Year in the 2011 International ICT Awards.
